When is the open mic
Every Monday night, from 7 - when signup begins, to 11.00, when the sound engineer goes home.

What kind of performances are allowed?
The Dublin Castle is primarily a music venue, so most acts tend to be singer-songwriters or bands. However, all performers are welcome..

How do I sign up?
Sign-up happens on the night at the venue itself. We don't take advance bookings or reservations, so make sure to arrive early to secure your spot! The sign-up sheet opens at 7:00 PM, but it tends to fill up quickly, so we recommend getting there even earlier to avoid disappointment.

Is there a waiting list?
Yes, we keep a reserve list in case anyone drops out or we find ourselves with extra time.
Can I sign up for a future open mic night in advance?
Sign-up is on the night of the event only, at the venue.

How long can I perform?
Each act gets a maximum of 10 minutes, and that includes your setup time. So, make sure you're ready to go in advance!
What equipment is provided?
Full backline, including guitar and bass amps, a full drum kit with destructibles, and a PA system with mics, stands, DI boxes, and a mixing desk operated by our sound engineer. Just remember to bring any cables you need to plug into the DI boxes or amps.

Is there a cover charge?
Nope! Entry is completely free.

Can I bring guests?
Of course! The more, the merrier. Invite your friends, family, and fans to cheer you on.

Do I get paid?
While we can't offer payment, you'll get the invaluable experience of performing live and sharing your talent with an appreciative audience.

Is there a dress code?
Literally anything.

Are there age restrictions?
Yes, the venue has a strict 18+ age limit.

Is the venue accessible?
The main part of the pub is accessible from the street, but there are steps down to the music venue.

Can I perform original songs/material, or are covers okay?
Both original songs and covers are absolutely welcome.

Can I promote my music/social media/website during my set?
Yes, feel free to let the audience know where they can find you online and hear more of your music.

Can I use backing tracks?
Yes, you can use backing tracks as long as they feature your own original work or arrangements. No karaoke tracks, please!

Tips for a Great Night
-
Be respectful of other performers: Our open mic night fosters a supportive community. We encourage performers to stay, enjoy the other acts, and show their support. Please be mindful of others and avoid talking while they are performing. If you need to have a chat, please head to the front room or outside.
-
Keep to your time limit: We're strict about the 10-minute limit, so please don't go over your allotted time. It's important to be fair to everyone who wants to perform.
-
Be prepared: Remember that setting up, tuning your instrument, and introducing yourself all count towards your 10 minutes. Be ready to play as soon as your name is called.
-
Support the venue: Putting on the open mic night involves costs for the venue, including the sound engineer, door staff, and extra bar staff. If you can, please buy a drink or two at the bar to help support the venue and keep the open mic night going.
-
Do not bring your own drinks: Please respect the venue's policy and do not bring your own drinks. Anyone consuming their own drinks will be asked to leave.
